The United States proudly participated in the high-level opening session of GITEX Africa 2026 today. Ambassador Duke Buchan III joined Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch and other senior Moroccan officials to inaugurate the continent’s largest technology event. Ambassador Buchan delivered keynote remarks, underscoring the enduring U.S.-Morocco partnership and the commitment of the United States to supporting Morocco’s digital transformation. Ambassador Buchan expressed deep admiration for His Majesty King Mohammed VI, whose visionary leadership has positioned Morocco as a model of stability, modernization, and ambition on the African continent.

Ambassador Buchan emphasized the unique strength of the U.S.-Morocco relationship, which dates back almost 250 years to Morocco’s recognition of American independence in 1777. He underscored the United States’s commitment to its relationship with the Kingdom. During his remarks, the Ambassador noted that “Under President Trump’s leadership, the United States is committed to this partnership. American companies are making real deals here — deals that support Morocco in achieving His Majesty’s vision.”

“Our deals don’t come with strings attached. Trade, not aid. Not loans. Real, high-quality investment that lasts. We bring trusted, secure American technology that will advance Morocco and its people,” he added.

The Ambassador stressed that U.S. investment spans the full length of the Kingdom — from Tangier to Dakhla — reflecting American confidence in Morocco’s potential and commitment to every region of the country. He also underscored U.S. support for Morocco’s autonomy plan, affirming that American investment and technology partnerships directly reinforce Morocco’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and long-term development goals.

Major U.S. technology companies—including Cisco, Dell Technologies, Cybastion, Salesforce, Oracle, and many others—are already deeply engaged in Morocco, supporting the country’s digital transition strategy in areas such as digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud services, data center infrastructure, and AI research. The United States continues to advocate for trusted vendors to be Morocco’s technology partners of choice as Morocco pursues its digital transformation.

Dozens of American companies are on the ground to showcase U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and secure digital infrastructure as GITEX Africa 2026 brings together 55,000 innovators from 130 countries. The event highlights Morocco’s emergence as a digital gateway for Africa and the growing role of U.S. technology firms in helping power the region’s digital future.

The U.S. presence at GITEX Africa 2026 reflects a core belief: innovation requires collaboration and must deliver real-world benefits. U.S. businesses recognize Morocco as a key growth market for them and for Africa, and they are here for the long term, investing in prosperity for both countries.
