In this exclusive interaction with Catalyst, Adrian D’Cunha, Head of Information Technology, Mai Dubai, shares insights into the organization’s digital transformation journey, the evolving role of low-code platforms in enterprise modernization, and how Kissflow is helping accelerate process digitization, improve real-time visibility, and lay the groundwork for future AI-powered business operations.
What does this deployment reveal about the evolving role of low-code platforms?
Given our experience with the product, it shows that low-code is no longer just a tool for small automation or quick fixes. In less than two years, we were able to digitize close to 100 business processes with a lean team, which shows the real potential of these platforms.
Now, low-code has become a practical way to accelerate transformation. It helps us move faster, reduce dependency on long development cycles, and respond to business needs with more agility. More importantly, it allows IT and business teams to work together in a much more effective way.
How is Kissflow positioning itself in this era of agility and speed?
Kissflow has helped us move from ideas to execution much faster. In a business environment where speed matters, the platform gives us the flexibility to design, change, and deploy workflows without unnecessary complexity. It is simple enough for business teams to engage with, still structured enough for IT to maintain governance, control, and scalability. That balance is important for any enterprise platform.
Importance of real-time data visibility?
Real-time visibility is no longer optional. With dynamic dashboards and process tracking, leadership at Mai Dubai can make faster, more informed decisions, while operational teams benefit from full transparency across workflows. This has significantly improved responsiveness and accountability across the organization.
Will low-code become the default layer for AI-powered enterprises?
Yes, I believe low-code will play a key role in AI-powered enterprises. AI becomes more valuable when it is embedded into real business processes, not when it sits separately as a standalone tool.
Low-code platforms can provide that connection. They allow organizations to automate workflows today and gradually introduce intelligence, recommendations, and AI-led decision support into those same processes. At Mai Dubai, we see low-code as an important bridge between automation and the next phase of intelligent enterprise operations.
Biggest misconceptions about low-code/no-code?
The biggest misconception is that low-code/no-code is only meant or can be used for simple automation. With the right governance, security, and integration controls, it can support scalable enterprise solutions across various use cases. Another misconception is that it replaces IT. In reality, it changes the role of IT. Instead of building every workflow from scratch, IT becomes the enabler, governor, and accelerator of digital innovation across the business.
Future workplace evolution?
The workplace is moving toward a model where digital improvement becomes part of everyday work. Through Kissflow, business teams are able to identify inefficiencies, redesign workflows, and automate processes within a controlled framework.
This reduces bottlenecks and creates more ownership within departments. IT still plays a critical role, but more as the custodian of governance, security, integration, and enterprise standards. For us, this is where the workplace is evolving — digital transformation becoming a shared business capability, not only an IT initiative.
Lessons for other enterprises?
Our journey reinforces three key lessons:
- Speed matters – Organizations that can execute faster gain a clear competitive advantage
- Empowerment drives innovation – Enabling business users unlocks exponential value
- Automation + visibility = transformation – True impact comes when automation is paired with real-time insights
For manufacturing, logistics, and FMCG sectors, low-code is the differentiator that separates good organizations from great, future-ready enterprises.
